"20 Questions Answered about Being a Standup Comic"
"Be a Standup Comic...or just look like one"
This is another episode of Stand Up Comedy. Your host and emcee celebrating 40 plus years on the fringe of show business stories, interviews and comedy sets from the famous and not so famous. Here's your host and emcee, Scott Edwards. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the podcast man. We have some fun musical comedy fun for you today. That's right. I found some great comedy music songs put together by some very talented people and I get to share them with you on this podcast. I hope you're having as much fun as me. Hey, we're still growing, so be sure to tell your family and friends. And if you get a chance, subscribe to the channel. Okay, let's get into it later on closing this amazing show is none other than Dana Carvey. That's right, the man from Saturday Night Live. He's been in a few movies, lots of tv, and a lot of people don't know he's a really terrific musician. So we have his famous chopping broccoli song and a Burger King tribute. If you get a chance, hold out to the end and hear Dana Carvey. Right before him, I threw in the theme song from my TV show live at Laughs Unlimited. And that's just kind of fun, crazy, wacky stuff done by my buddy Bob Stobiner. Speaking of Bob, he and Carlos Alizracki, you may know that name from Reno 911, both the TV show and the movie Carlos. Alas, Rocky, not only a great sound effects guy and musician and terrific stand up comic and actor, he's done it all. He and Bob Stobner put together this special song as a tribute to Carl's junior Boy, lots of hamburger joints. Okay, but we want to start off with even more music. That's right. One of my best friends in the business out of Los Angeles. His name Jazz Kaner. He's a comic musician extraordinaire. And this one's called slamming the top 40 where he does some great riffs using his guitar and his great voice to mimic some of the hit songs from back in the day. So all music, all fun. Let's jump into it. This show is going to be a hoot. A nanny. Here we go, our first act, comic musician Jazz Caner. Hey, a little something for all the drunks. How many people are in love? Just clap if you're in love, you clap to no one else. And this whole table over here, fun thing. Don't bother to take your hands off their crotch. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to run with you. How many then? Are not quite sure if you're in love maybe you're not perfect how many then are just pretending to be in love until you get what you want? She's forcing his hand up. Now that's a. Here's a song that has nothing to do with love. What a night for a wet dream. What a night. Yes. All these hits on one album. That's right. Call now and order yours. Jazz Kaner slams the top 40. Hey, how about Little George Benson? They say you stumble into walls on Quaaludes. Yes. And of course, Willie Nelson. Maybe I should have loved you little often than I could have maybe I should have kept you little longer than I would but you were always on my nerves and of course, the Rolling Stones. That's all I remember of that song. Good laugh, Georgia. I wear my sunglasses at night that's why I drive right through the red lights oh, man, the clock must be slow Just for the two people that understood that. Okay. Sweet home Sacramento But I'm coming home to you I don't care if there's no cable Long as I'm working for the Duke Yes. All these hits on one album. That's right. Hey, how about Police? Classic Moldy Goldie from the Police. Right Hand. I've got no date tonight But I've got nasty pictures Guess I'll do this till I lose my sight. And of course, the hits continue with the Police singing King of Stain. I found a little wet spot on our bed today and I'm kind of upset because I've been away. And what would that album be without Billy Joel? Well, she's a big round girl and she's going down to Disney World oh, oh, oh She's a big round girl now she's screwing up the Tilta World. And of course, hits from those funky guys from down under. Minute work. Screeching tires and they crash like thunder. Never catch a ride with Stevie Wonder. Jazz Kaner is so talented. He's a great musician, but a really, really funny comic. I know you enjoy that. Good high energy music, comedy, fun. All right, coming up next, we have two things back to back, coming up. Second is the Laughs TV show theme song. Kind of fun and goofy. And before that, also starring Bob Stobiner. And adding Carlos, alas, Rocky from Reno911. It's the Carl's Jr song. So let's jump into both of those. Ladies and gentlemen, Bob Stobiner and Carlos Alizrocki. Here we go. Welcome to Carlos Juniors. Can I take your order? When I was 13 hung out at the skating rink ask my mommy what will I be? She told me you're gonna be a cars junior burger flipper Polyester brown shoes. I'll even make a bet you're gonna wear a head it always be a loser. Okay, that's one regular hamburger and one regular. You're a boring guy, sir. Can I get you to cope with that? When I was 15, girls were interesting. I tried to get me one. But. They were so mean. One of them Chomi Chomi chose. You're gonna be a cars junior burger flipper Polyester brown shoes. I'll even make a bet you're gonna wear a hairnet. Always be a loser. How about trying our new celery shake? So don't start acting like you can do anything like you can do anything when you can even get a job at bur Burger Burger Burger Burger Burger King. Would you like some hard boiled dog doo doos? Maybe our special industrial strength maalox malts? Now that I'm 23 think I'd be happy but it's plain to see. That. I'm gonna be what my mama told. I'm gonna be a Kyle's Jr burger flipper polyester brown shoes. I'll even make a bet I'm gonna wear a head and always be a loser. You're gonna be a loser. You're gonna be a big loser. You're gonna be a big loser. You're go be a loser. That's $1.49 at the window, sir. Would you like to take a laugh? Have a giggle today? Send your troubles away. Can't you hear me say? Come on, let's laug just you and me oh, what a time it will be. Ha ha hee hee. You'll feel better, you'll see if you just laugh. I know a little hideaway where the. Comics they play all day with a joke for you or riddle or two. And any joke they'll say could be a little risky. But hey, you'll never know if we don't make the show so we gotta go and tell take a laugh, have a giggle today. Send your troubles away. Can't you hear me say? Come on, let's laugh at laughs Unlimited. Hey now what do you say? Come on, let's laugh. Well, that was the theme song to my TV show, Live at Laughs, done in the late 80s and early 90s. Kind of fun and goofy, but Bob Stobiner was the guy that put that together, my partner, and then he and Carlos Alazracki did the song right before as a tribute to Carl's Jr. So I hope you enjoyed those two songs. Quick entertainment, musical comedy, fun. All right, now we have the star of our show, Dana Carvey. This was recorded live on my stage in the early 80s. Dana was just getting started in his career. He worked my club all the time. He was one of my favorite regulars. And right before he got Saturday Night Live, in fact, you're going to hear the song Chopping Broccoli done live on stage, but a few years before it appeared on Saturday Night Live. He also does a great song as a tribute to Burger King. I know you'll enjoy both. Let's jump into it. Ladies and gentlemen, Dana Carvey. Aren't rock stars some of the most obnoxious people on the planet? Rock stars always act like they're pissed off they have to use a microphone, right? Just fuck you. I just want to walk up one of those guys and go, excuse me. You're not that cool. It's the world's coolest rock rock star. There's a lady I know She's a lady I know she's a lady I know There's a lady I know if. I didn't know her if I didn't know her I didn't know her she be the lady I didn't know and my lady went downtown. She bought some. Broccoli and she brought it home and she's chopping broccoli. She's chopping broccoli. Was she chopping broccoli? Broccoli. Okay, break it down. Bring it down, bring it down. Right. Guitar solo. Okay. It's just a band. I'm pissed. Oh, good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. All right, all right, all right. Now here's a song by Neil Young. It's a song that Neil did that wasn't released. It was a commercial he did for McDonald's a few years back. You may never have heard it, but you're gonna hear it now. Neil Young for McDonald's. 1, 2, 3, 4. Well, I dreamed I saw the golden arches and a yellow haze of the. Sun. There were burgers frying and I ain't lying and the fat man stuffed his face There was a Quarter Pounder near my mouth But I felt like an apple for pie look at Burger King on the run in the 1918. Comes the time now to say a special good night to some special people. Some very special people. This band up here loves you and needs you, and we'd like to have sex with a lot of you if we could we want to make love with at least half of you so half have to leave. The other half have to take off their clothes and pray to God in heaven and make their buttocks tingle and have a drink and weep, and they'll be frolicking about. You two look ready to make love right now. Are you on a date? You're both sitting. I don't know what that means. I don't. I hate when people point out how I'm sitting because a lot of times I sit like this and they say, you're so weird. The flying napkin Fish. Wait. Keep a lopelli. What? Keep sex with jellyfish. Get down there. Look at Burger King on the run in the 1980s. That's what it's really come down to, hasn't it? It. That's really what life's all about, isn't it? Cuz like if life. If you weren't here, you'd be somewhere else. Right on, man. All right, let everybody sing now. Look at Burger King on the run, the 1980s. If I was in the audience right now, I would never, ever, ever sing along. I'd be much too shy, but come on, really do it. I would feel I wouldn't sing well or someone might laugh at me. You three look like you want to sing along. No. Just a little bit. Just say Burger king. In the 1918. Last chance. Look at Burger King on the run in the 1918. Thank you very much. You guys been great. We've been the Broccoli Band. I've been Dana Carvey. Have a good night. Thank you. I know you enjoyed that. That was Dana Carvey live on stage. And you might have noticed he was with a full band. He brought up his brother's band. He had backup singers. It was such a great moment. And again, nobody really knew who Dana Carvey was at the time except for us. He was a terrific stand up comic and musician and was just in my club all the time. A real good friend and it was great to be able to share that with you. All right, ladies and gentlemen, this has been musical comedy fun. We had Dana Carvey the theme for my laughs TV show. Bob and Carlos Alazracki doing the Carl's Jr tribute and opening things up. Jazz Caner slams the top 40. All right, I know you enjoyed that as much as I did.
